স্বৈরতন্ত্রের নির্মম বলী শাবিপ্রবি’র আন্দোলন: নতুন সূর্যোদয়ের অপেক্ষা
সুদীপ্ত শাহিন: সিলেট শহর থেকে সুনামগঞ্জ যেতে কুমারগাঁও বাসস্ট্যান্ড সংলগ্ন শাহজালাল বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়- শাবিপ্রবি’র প্রধান ফটকটি অবস্থিত। ফটকের সিকিউরিটি পোস্ট পাড় হলেই দুইপাশের সারিবদ্ধ গাছপালার মোড়কে সাজানো রাস্তাটি সোজা নিয়ে যাবে বিশ্বদ্যিালয়টির মূল ক্যাম্পাসে। ক্যাম্পাসের গোল চত্বরটিই মূলত: নির্দেশনা দিয়ে দেয় কার কোন দিকে যাওয়া উচিত। অর্থাৎ ছাত্র হল, ছাত্রী হল, একাডেমিক ভবন, প্রশাসনিক ভবন যেদিকেই যাবেন এই গোল চত্বর থেকেই তার রাস্তা নির্দেশ করা রয়েছে। তবে যেদিকেই যাওয়া হোক ক্যাম্পাসের প্রাচীন ভূমিটির স্মৃতিচিহ্ন পরতে পরতে দৃশ্যমান। এক সময় এই ভূমিটি ছিলো উর্বর ফসলের জমি ও বন-বাতাড়ে ঢাকা, তার অস্তিত্ব ক্যাম্পাস জুড়েই ছড়িয়ে রয়েছে। এদিক দিয়ে একটা নৈস্বর্গিক সৌন্দর্য্য ক্যাম্পাসটিতে অনুভব করা যায়। শহীদ মিনার বা সেন্ট্রাল লাইব্রেরী সংলগ্ন টিলা, যা ক্যাম্পাস শিক্ষার্থীদের দ্বারা নামকরণ হয়েছে ‘সাস্ট অ্যামাজন’ তার ভুতুরে নির্জনতা প্রকৃতির নির্মল বৈশিষ্ট্য স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়।
সিলেট মহানগরের মধ্যে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টির অবস্থান হলেও নগরের সংস্কৃতির সাথে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীদের সংস্কৃতি ও চলন-বলন একেবারেই আলাদা। দেশের অন্যান্য শহরের তুলনায় সিলেট নগরটি কিছুটা রক্ষণশীল মনে হয়। অন্যদিকে দেশের বিভিন্ন জায়গা থেকে ছেলে-মেয়েরা এখানে পড়তে এসে নগরের সংস্কৃতির সাথে নিজেদের সামঞ্জস্য করতে কিছুটা বেগ পোহাতে হয়। ফলে নগর থেকে অনেকটা বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে ক্যাম্পাসের ভিতরেই শিক্ষার্থীদের ‘নিজস্ব লাইফস্টাইল’ গড়ে উঠেছে। কোন কোন ক্ষেত্রে এই স্টাইল যে শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে এক রোখা মেজাজ তৈরি করছে, তাও ক্যাম্পাসে কতক সময় কাটালে স্পষ্ট হয়ে উঠে। রক্ষণশীলতার বিপরীতে দ্বান্দ্বিক ঐতিহাসিক বস্তুবাদ রপ্ত করতে না পারলে কথিত প্রগতিশীলতা রক্ষণশীলতার চেয়েও ভয়ানক হয়ে উঠে।
আগষ্ট মাসের প্রথম সপ্তাহেই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টির ক্যাম্পাস ঘুরে এলাম। এর প্রায় সপ্তাহখানেক আগেই ক্যাম্পাসে খুন হয়েছেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী বুলবুল। ২২ বছরের শিক্ষার্থী বুলবুল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের লোকপ্রশাসন বিভাগের তৃতীয় বর্ষের ছাত্র ছিলেন। ক্যাম্পাসের গাজী-কালুর টিলা সংলগ্ন জায়গাটিতে ২৫ জুলাই তাকে ছুরিকাঘাতে হত্যা করা হয়। তিনি ছাত্রলীগের কর্মি ছিলেন বলে জানা যায়। বেশ কয়েক বছর আগে চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে প্রকাশিত জাতীয় ছাত্রদলের প্রকাশনা ‘আওয়াজ’ এ ‘ক্যাম্পাস হত্যার মিছিল দীর্ঘতর: দায় উদোর পিন্ডি বুদোর ঘাড়ে’ নামে একটি প্রবন্ধ লিখেছিলাম। প্রবন্ধটিতে বুয়েট, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়সহ দেশের প্রথম সারির বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোতে সংঘঠিত বিভিন্ন হত্যাকান্ডগুলোর কারণ ও পরবর্তীতে এর বিচার কার্যক্রমের চিত্র তুলে ধরেছিলাম। প্রবন্ধটিতে নিরাশার বিষয় ছিলো এখন পর্যন্ত একটি ক্যাম্পাস হত্যাকান্ডরও বিচার হয় নি। বুলবুলের হত্যার পর ছিনতাইকারীদের নাম যেভাবে জুড়ে দেয়া হয়েছে তাতে সেই আশংকাই ঘনীভূত হলো। যদিও তা পুলিশের তদন্তাধীণ তবে অনেকের ধারণা হচ্ছে– এই হত্যাকান্ডটি পরিকল্পিত! এ সমস্ত বিষয় ঘাঁটতে গেলে সাধারণত গ্রুপিং ও অন্তর্দ্বন্দ্বের বিষয়টিই সামনে আসে। বুলবুল হত্যার মোটিভ বলা আমার এই লেখার উদ্দেশ্য নয়। কিন্তু ক্যাম্পাস শিক্ষার্থীদের যেভাবে শান্ত করে রাখা হয়েছে সেই বিষয়টি উদ্বেগের! হত্যা ছিনতাইকারী দ্বারা হোক বা পরিকল্পিত হোক, ক্যাম্পাসের ভিতরে হত্যা কান্ডটি সংঘঠিত হলো- এর কি কোন দায়ভার থাকবে না? ক্যাম্পাস কি কারো মেরে ফেলে দেয়ার একটি অভয়াশ্রম হতে পারে ? অথচ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন এর কোন দায়-দায়িত্বই নিলো না? একজন শিক্ষার্থীর তরতাজা প্রাণ এভাবে ঝরে গেলো, কারো কোন কৈফিয়ত থাকলো না? বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভিসি, প্রো-ভিসি, প্রক্টর, পরিবেশ ও আইনশৃঙ্খলা কমিটি কারো কোন দায় দেখা গেলো না? বরং দেখা গেলো বুলবুল যে সংগঠনের কর্মি ছিলেন সেই ছাত্রলীগ ভিসি’র কাছে কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেছে! কারণ ভিসি বুলবুলের পরিবারকে কিছু ক্ষতিপূরণের আশ্বাস দিয়েছেন! কী মর্মান্তিক বিষয়! একটি শিক্ষার্থীর প্রাণের বিনিময়ে কিছু ক্ষতিপূরণে পাড় পেয়ে যেতে পারে প্রশাসন! তাহলে যে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টির সাধারণ শিক্ষার্থীরা কিছুদিন আগেই এক প্রভোস্টর ধৃষ্টতার কারণে এক দৃষ্টান্তকারী আন্দোলন গড়ে তুলেছিলো, সেসব শিক্ষার্থীরা এবার কোথায় গেলেন?
ক্যাম্পাসে যে গোলচত্বরটির কথা বলেছিলাম, সেখান থেকে কিছুটা ডানে বা সন্মখে গেলেই চোখে পড়ে ক্যাম্পাসের টংগুলো। শিক্ষার্থীরা প্রাণখুলে এসব টং এ বসে আড্ডা দিচ্ছেন। তারপরও যেনো মনে হলো শিক্ষার্থীদের ভিতরে প্রাণ নেই। কেন নেই? এর জবাবও ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে আছে ক্যাম্পাসের ভিতরেই। গোলচত্বর থেকে সোজা সামনে গেলে যে টংটি তার নাম লেখা রয়েছে ‘চাষা-ভুষার’ টং । এর থেকে ক্যাফেটেরিয়া পাড় হয়ে সামনে গেলেই চোখে পড়ে কামলার টং, মজুরের টং, জাইল্লার টং ও রিকশাওয়ালার টংগুলো। টংগুলোর এই নামকরণ শিক্ষার্থীরা করেছেন একেকটা ঘটনার প্রেক্ষিতে। আন্দোলনের সময় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের এক শিক্ষিকা খুব দাম্ভিকতা নিয়ে ‘চাষাভুষাদের’ যখন তিরস্কার করেছিলেন, তখনই শিক্ষার্থীরা এসব নামকরণ করেন। এই সৃজনশীলতাই তারুণ্যের একটি বিশেষ সৌন্দর্য্য। অতীতে দেশের যেকোন আন্দোলন-সংগ্রামে তারুণ্যের অংশগ্রহণ সৃজনশীলতার প্রকাশ ঘটিয়েছে। তবে তারুণ্যের এই উচ্ছলতা, প্রগতিশীলতা, মানবিকতা ও সৌন্দর্য্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন কি ধারণ করে? সহজ উত্তর, একদম করে না। বরঞ্চ দেশের অন্যান্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোর প্রশাসনের মতই শাবিপ্রবি প্রশাসন একরোখা ও স্বৈরতান্ত্রিক। কোন কোন ক্ষেত্রে অসভ্যতা ও বর্বরতারও প্রকাশ ঘটিয়েছে। একটা মজার ঘটনা তুলে ধরলে পরিস্থিতিটা বুঝতে সহজ হবে। যেখানে চাষাভুষার’ টং টি অবস্থিত তার পাশেই ইটের কয়েকটা ছোট ছোট পিলার গোল করে বসানো রয়েছে। এতে শিক্ষার্থীরা বসে চা খায়। প্রায় সব ক্যাম্পাসেই এমন কতক শিক্ষার্থী থাকে, তাদেরকে যেনো ক্যাম্পাসের দিবা-রাত্রির পাহারাদার বলা যায়। অর্থাৎ দিনে রাত্রে তারা একটি নির্দিষ্ট জায়গায় বসে অবিরত আড্ডা দিয়ে যায়। এই পিলারগুলোতেও এরকম কিছু শিক্ষার্থী বসতেন। এ কারণে এই জায়গাটিকে অন্যান্য শিক্ষার্থীরা ‘লুথা’ নামকরণ করেছেন বলে শোনা যায় ক্যাম্পাস শিক্ষার্থীদের কাছ থেকে । দীর্ঘসময় জুড়ে লুথা’র আড্ডায় ক্যাম্পাসের ভালো-মন্দ বিভিন্ন বিষয় থাকতো। ফলে এখান থেকে আলোচনা করে কেউ কেউ ক্যাম্পাসের বিভিন্ন মুভমেন্টে জড়িয়ে পড়েন। অন্যান্য ক্যাম্পাসেও এরকম শিক্ষার্থীরা বিভিন্ন মুভমেন্টে জড়িয়ে থাকেন । শাবিপ্রবি’র সাম্প্রতিক আন্দোলনেও যারা ডোনেট করেছিলেন, তাদের অনেকের নাম এই পিলারগুলোতে খুদাই করে লেখা হয়েছিল শোনা যায়। তাই এই ‘লুথা’ আড্ডাখানা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসনের রোষানলে পড়ে এবং প্রশাসন লুথা’র পিলার উল্টে ফেলে । ক্যাম্পাসের বিভিন্ন গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকারগুলি খর্ব ও সংকুচিত করা হয়।
শাবিপ্রবির শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্দোলনের সূত্রপাত ১৩ জানুয়ারি। ওই দিন রাতে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বেগম সিরাজুন্নেসা চৌধুরী হলের প্রাধ্যক্ষ জাফরিন আহমেদের বিরুদ্ধে অসদাচরণের অভিযোগ তুলে তাঁর পদত্যাগসহ তিন দফা দাবিতে আন্দোলন শুরু করেন হলের কয়েক শ ছাত্রী। ছাত্রলীগ হলের ছাত্রীদের ওপর হামলা চালায়। পরদিন বিকেলে শিক্ষার্থীরা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আইসিটি ভবনে উপাচার্যকে অবরুদ্ধ করেন। তখন পুলিশ শিক্ষার্থীদের লাঠিপেটা ও তাঁদের লক্ষ্য করে রাবার বুলেট ও সাউন্ড গ্রেনেড ছোঁড়ে। ওই দিন রাত সাড়ে আটটার দিকে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় অনির্দিষ্টকালের জন্য বন্ধ ও হল ছাড়ার ঘোষণা দিলেও শিক্ষার্থীরা তা উপেক্ষা করে উপাচার্যের পদত্যাগ চেয়ে আন্দোলন চালিয়ে যান। একসময় আন্দোলন আরো তীব্র হয়ে বেশ কিছু শিক্ষার্থীরা আমরণ অনশনে বসেন। সারাদেশের শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে যখন ভয়ের সংস্কৃতি বিদ্যমান তখন শাবিপ্রবির শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্দোলন সারাদেশের মানুষের মধ্যেই সাহস সঞ্চার করছিলো। দেশের অন্যান্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোতেও আন্দোলন ছড়িয়ে যাচ্ছিল। এমনকি প্রগতিশীল রাজনৈতিক শক্তিসমূহও এই আন্দোলনের পাশে জড়ো হচ্ছিলেন। সিলেটে জাতীয় গণতান্ত্রিক ফ্রন্টের ব্যানারে বিভিন্ন শ্রমিক, কৃষক সংগঠনসমূহ সংহতি সমাবেশ করেছে। ক্রমে ক্রমে তা আরো ছড়িয়ে যাচ্ছিলো। শিক্ষার্থীদের ছাড়াও শ্রমিক-কৃষক-জনগণের যে ফোর্স শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্দোলনে সংহতি জানিয়ে শরীক হয়েছিলো তাদের লক্ষ্য ছিলো প্রতিবাদ না করার এবং ভয় পেয়ে সবকিছু মেনে নেয়ার যে সংস্কৃতি গড়ে উঠেছে এই আন্দোলন সফল করার মাধ্যমে সেখান থেকে অবরুদ্ধ সময়টাকে বের করে আনা। কারণ শিক্ষার্থীদের দাবি খুব সামান্য ছিলো। অসদাচরণের অভিযোগ থেকে তা ভিসি পদত্যাগের দাবিতে পরিণত হলো। এটুকু দাবি মেনে নিলেই আন্দোলন থেমে যেতো। প্রগতিশীল শক্তিসমূহের উদ্দেশ্য ছিলো শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্দোলনকে স্বৈরতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রের বিরুদ্ধে আন্দোলনে উন্নীত করা। কারণ স্বৈরতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রের উচ্ছেদ ছাড়া এবং জাতীয় গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্র প্রতিষ্ঠা ছাড়া কোন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে গণতান্ত্রিক প্রশাসন ও পরিবেশ তৈরি হতে পারে না। কিন্তু দেখা গেলো, সরকার ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন অনড়। একজন ভিসি’কে সরিয়ে দিলে সরকারের হয়তো কিছুই হতো না। সরকার এতকিছুর পরও ভিসিকে সরায় নি এবং ভিসিও নিজের ছাত্রদের গালমন্দ শোনার পরও পদত্যাগ করে নি। সরকারের পলিসি পরবর্তীতে বোঝা গেলো, তার স্বৈরতান্ত্রিক কাঠামোর কোন একটি অংশ আন্দোলনের কারণে বাধ্য হয়ে যদি বাদ দিতে হয় শীঘ্রই জনগণ উৎসাহিত হয়ে তার অপরাপর কাঠামোর উপর আঘাত হানবে। ফলে সরকার ভিন্ন কৌশলে অগ্রসর হলো। প্রথমত মামলা-হামলা দিয়ে দমনমূলক কায়দায় আন্দোলন দমাতে না পেরে অবশেষে শেষ ব্রহ্মাস্ত্রটি প্রয়োগ করলো! আওয়ামী সরকারের এরকম কিছু ব্যক্তি আছে, যাদের উপর ‘মুক্তিযুদ্ধ ও ৭১’ এর বুনিয়াদী প্রশিক্ষণের মোড়ক এঁটে দেওয়া হয়েছে। রাষ্ট্রীয় প্রণোদণায় প্রচলিত মিডিয়ায় তাদের একটা বিশেষ ইমেজ নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে। দেশের বিভিন্ন ঘটনায় বিশেষত ছাত্র-তরুণদের বিভিন্ন আন্দোলনে মিথ্যা ও বিভ্রান্তির চোরাবালিতে আন্দোলন-সংগ্রামকে আটকে দেয়া হচ্ছে এসব ইমেজদারীর কাজ।
শাবিপ্রবির শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্দোলন যখন প্রায় সফলতার দিকে এবং ক্রমান্বয়ে বিস্তৃতির দিকে তখন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন শিক্ষক মুহম্মদ জাফর ইকবালকে সরকারের তরফ থেকে পাঠানো হলো। তিনি ক্যাম্পাসে এসেই তাঁর চিরাচরিত বৈশিষ্ট্য অনুযায়ী টিনেজ বয়সের কোমলমতি শিক্ষার্থীদের ইমোশনালী ব্ল্যাকমেইল করলেন। অনশনরত কোন কোন শিক্ষার্থী তাঁর বুকে মাথা রেখে কান্নাকাটি করলেন। তিনি প্রতিশ্রুতি দিলেন শিক্ষার্থীদের এই আবেগ ও দাবির সাথে তিনি একমত । সরকারের উচ্চমহল তাকে পাঠিয়েছে এবং তিনি সরকারের উচ্চমহলের সাথে কথা বলে শিক্ষার্থীদের দাবি পূরণ করবেন। ভিসি প্রত্যাহার করানো হবে এবং আর্থিক সহযোগিতার জন্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন শিক্ষার্থীদের যেসব মামলা-মোকদ্দমায় জড়ানো হয়েছে সেসব মামলা প্রত্যাহার করানো হবে। এমনকি তিনি নিজেও ১০ হাজার টাকা আন্দোলনকারী শিক্ষার্থীদের তহবিলে দান করলেন। তাঁর এরকম মধুর আচরণ ও প্রতিশ্রুতির কারণে কোমলমতি শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের অনশন ও আন্দোলন ভঙ্গ করলেন। তারা যার যার ক্লাসে ফিরে গেলেন নিশ্চিন্তে। কারণ তাদের জাফর ইকবাল স্যার বলেছেন, সব দাবি পূরণ হবে। জাফর ইকবাল স্যার তাদের কাছে খুব সম্মানীয় ব্যক্তি । তিনি মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনার ধ্বজাধারী । তিনি কখনো তার ওয়াদার বরখেলাপ করতে পারেন না। অথচ শিক্ষার্থীদের এই নিশ্চিন্ত ভাবনার প্রায় ৮ মাস অতিবাহিত হচ্ছে। ভিসি এখনো বহাল তবিয়তে আছেন। প্রাক্তন শিক্ষার্থীদের উপর মামলা এখনো ঝুলন্ত অবস্থায় রয়েছে, বিভিন্ন ঝামেলা ও হয়রানি তাদের পাড় করতে হচ্ছে। ক্যাম্পাসে একের পর এক অর্জিত অধিকার হরণ করা হচ্ছে। সাধারণ নিয়মগুলো খর্ব করে প্রশাসনের স্বৈরতন্ত্র মুখ ভেংচি কাটছে শিক্ষার্থীদের দিকে। যখন তখন যাকে তাকে শাসানো হচ্ছে, ছাত্রত্ব বাাতিলের হুমকি দিচ্ছে । সবমিলিয়ে এক ভয়ের সংস্কৃতি আরো প্রবলভাবে চাপিয়ে দিচ্ছে শিক্ষার্থীদের উপর। যেনো আর কোন শিক্ষার্থী কখনো আন্দোলন না করে! আর আন্দোলনে গেলে এরকম পরিণতি ভোগ করতে হবে। প্রকৃতির নির্মল পরিবেশে ঢাকা ক্যাম্পাসটি জুড়েই যেনো এখন সর্বক্ষণ ভয় ও আতংক তাড়া করছে শিক্ষার্থীদের। ব্যর্থ আন্দোলনের বোঝা বইতে যেয়ে হতাশায় নিমজ্জিত সহজ সরল কোমলমতি শিক্ষার্থীরা। অন্যদিকে ভিসি ও প্রশাসনের সাবলীল চলাফেরাই বুঝিয়ে দেয় শিক্ষার্থীদের কোণঠাসা করে তারা কত সুখে আছেন! ক্যাম্পাসে একজন শিক্ষার্থী খুন হয়ে গেলেও বেশ খোশ মেজাজেই সামান্য ক্ষতিপূরণে পাড় পেয়ে যাচ্ছেন তারা। কারণ শিক্ষার্থীদের অবরোধের ভয় তাদের কেটে গেছে। সরকার ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসনের ছলচাতুরীতে শিক্ষার্থীদের মনোবল ভেঙ্গে ফেলা হয়েছে। মুহম্মদ জাফর ইকবাল সেই ছলচাতুরীর গুটি ছিলেন বলে এখন সবার ধারণা স্পষ্ট প্রায়। কারণ প্রায়ই জনাব জাফর ইকবালকে প্রধানমন্ত্রী ,শিক্ষামন্ত্রীসহ বিভিন্ন মন্ত্রীদের সাথে আলাপে আড্ডায় দেখা যায়। সেসব আড্ডায় কোন সময় কি তিনি শাবিপ্রবির শিক্ষার্থীদের দেয়া প্রতিশ্রুতির কথা তুলেন? এই প্রশ্নটাই আজ আবার ঝুঁকে বসেছে শাবিপ্রবির শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে। যেসব শিক্ষার্থী তার বুকে মাথা রেখে কান্নাকাটি করেছিলো সেসব শিক্ষার্থীর ফোন এখন তিনি আর ধরেন না। কোন যোগাযোগ করেন না শাবিপ্রবির শিক্ষার্থীদের সাথে। ফলে মুহম্মদ জাফর ইকবালের আসল উদ্দেশ্য কি ছিলো তা শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে ধীরে ধীরে স্পষ্ট হচ্ছে। অনেকের বলাবলিতে মুহম্মদ জাফর ইকবালই হচ্ছেন সরকারের সেই ব্রহ্মাস্ত্র। যাকে দিয়ে সরকার এরকম অনেক আন্দোলনের পিঠে ছুঁড়ি বসিয়েছে।
